Challenge

The main challenge was to separate the existing Premiership Women’s Rugby site from the existing England Rugby platform, whilst giving the women’s game its own voice, brand, and full digital experience.

The new site needed to deliver fixtures, results, league tables, club and player profiles, stats, video, and news — all accurate, fast, and easy to navigate.

With a tight timeline, the project required rapid coordination across design, development, data, and broadcast integrations to create a performance-driven, accessible home for fans of the women’s game.

Immersion

As sports fans ourselves, we had a clear vision for the website: it needed to be dynamic, data-rich, and authentic to the energy of the women’s game. We immersed ourselves in research, exploring best-in-class digital sports experiences to understand what engages fans most, from live data storytelling to video integration and player profiles.

Working closely with the team at PWR, we defined the essential fan features such as fixtures and results, live stats, club and player hubs and much more. The result delivered an intuitive design that celebrated the unique identity and voice of Premiership Women’s Rugby.

The Tech Scrum

To bring this vision to life, we used Strike, our purpose-built sports package. By fully integrating Cortex CMS, we are able to deliver a seamless, high-performance experience tailored to the specific demands of the industry.

Website

A powerful digital platform for PWR, combining bold design, fast performance, and seamless CMS integration to deliver reliable, accessible, and engaging experiences for fans and partners.

App

A fully custom app powered by the same Cortex CMS as the website, ensuring seamless updates, consistent content, and fan engagement through push notifications and native app features.

CMS

Cortex CMS gives PWR a unified, easy-to-manage platform for website and app content, enabling faster updates, brand consistency, sponsorship integration, and real-time fan engagement.

OTT

A flexible, cost-effective alternative to sport OTT platforms, integrating YouTube channels, playlists, and highlights while linking games, stats, and content for a richer fan experience.

Data & Analytics

We have integrated Oval’s advanced data and analytics into the PWR website and app, using machine learning to deliver live insights, enrich analysis, and deepen fan engagement.

Monitisation

Through our integration with the Cortex CMS, we’ve enabled PWR to easily sponsor and monetise any content or page, maximising website revenue and return on investment.

The
Launch

The new Premiership Women’s Rugby website launched on time for the new season and within budget, delivering a clean, modern design that reflects the energy and ambition of the brand.

Built and implemented using the Cortex CMS and integrated with Oval Insights data feeds, the site gives fans real-time stats, video highlights, and rich club and player information.

The intuitive interface and seamless user experience make it easy for supporters to follow fixtures, results, and stories from across the league, helping to grow brand awareness and deepen connections with a rapidly expanding audience.

The project’s success not only strengthened our relationship with PWR but also led to a formal partnership with Cortex, making Strut their only Scottish integration partner.

“From the beginning of our digital journey, Strut have proved to be a dedicated and reliable partner. Their expertise and innovative approach have been invaluable in delivering a platform that gives us strong foundations for online growth and we look forward to further collaboration and enhancing the PWR brand together.”
